About the Course

Classes will be led by Dr. Sohee Koo of Columbia University and will touch upon several topics tailored to the general public.  Like last semester, classes will be held online over Zoom. Anyone can participate after making a suggested donation. The topic for this semester is “Religion & Art”. Over the 18-week course, Dr. Koo will delve into various works of art in the context of religion, ranging from architectural styles and art in the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Reformation periods to modern and contemporary art. 

Instructor: Sohee Koo

Sohee Koo received a doctorate in Art Education from Columbia University and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts. She has extensive teaching experience in higher education as well as other professional organizations including Teachers College, City College, Pratt Institutes, and MoMA. She has chaired and presented her research at numerous conferences including National Art Education Association (NAEA), College Art Association (CAA), and Foundation in Art and Theory in Education (FATE). Her articles were published in Visual Inquiry: Learning & Teaching Art and Routledge/Taylor & Francis among others.
