AHL–AAW Solo Exhibition Grant

Overview

The AHL–AAW Solo Exhibition Grant is an annual grant that aims to support established Korean artists who are actively working in the United States by providing them with an opportunity to present solo exhibitions. This grant, offered by the AHL Foundation, enables these artists to showcase their artwork at the foundation’s gallery in New York City. It is important to note that this grant is specifically designated for the creation and exhibition/execution of a specific artwork or project. It cannot be used to cover the artists’ living expenses.

Selection Process

The selection process for the AHL–AAW Solo Exhibition Grant involves a panel of art professionals who play a crucial role in identifying the grant recipient. The panel members consist of individuals with diverse backgrounds, including jury members from AHL Foundation’s past grants/awards, curators, and artists who possess a deep understanding of AHL Foundation’s mission. Each art professional on the panel is asked to recommend two artists who they believe exemplify outstanding talent and artistic excellence. The panelists carefully consider various factors such as artistic merit, originality, conceptual clarity, and relevance to contemporary art practices when making their recommendations. These recommendations are based on their extensive knowledge and expertise in the art world. The final grantee will be decided based on the number of counts from the survey. The AHL Foundation ensures that all aspects of the selection process are conducted with strict confidentiality.
