About the Course: 

In this course, titled “Art Through Time: Exploring the History of Art and Anticipating 2024 Exhibitions”, participants will embark on a profound exploration of art, aiming to foster a deeper appreciation for its richness and diversity. Our odyssey begins by unraveling the fascinating stories of renowned artists and their masterpieces, spanning various periods and styles. By delving into the lives and works of these visionaries, participants will glean insights into the historical contexts that shaped their creativity. Art serves as a mirror reflecting the essence of diverse cultures, philosophies, and human experiences. Throughout this course, participants will learn to observe, interpret, and derive enjoyment from art in its myriad forms. From classical masterpieces to contemporary installations, we will explore the inspirations behind these creations and the cultural landscapes that gave them life. By the end of this course, participants will not only possess a comprehensive understanding of the history of art but will also be equipped with the tools to decipher and appreciate the language of art in their daily lives.

Instructor: Dr. Jinyoung Koh

Jinyoung Koh is a graduate program director and an assistant professor in Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education at Towson University in Maryland. Dr. Koh completed a Doctor of Education in Art & Art Education from Columbia University in New York. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in Photo & Media from the California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His art has received numerous awards and is included in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Rockefeller Foundation.
