About the Course: 

This course examines the modern and contemporary art of Korea. People often had difficulty achieving cultural proficiency with the lack of contextual knowledge and cultural background struggled to gain cultural competence as a lifelong process of increasing self-awareness. The stories of artistic and historical contexts will help us better understand Korean modern and contemporary art and culture as active lifelong learners.

Instructor: Dr. Jinyoung

Koh Jinyoung Koh is an assistant professor  Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education at Towson University in Maryland. Dr. Koh completed a Doctor of Education in Art & Art Education from Columbia University in New York. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in photo & media from the California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His art has received numerous awards and is included in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Rockefeller Foundation.
