AHL Foundation to Host 22nd Annual Benefit Gala & Awards Ceremony

– $41,000 in Total Awards to Artists, Curators, and Researchers in Korean Contemporary Art –

New York, NY — The AHL Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Korean and Korean American artists in the United States, will host its 22nd Annual Awards Ceremony and Gala on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at The Church of the Holy Apostles in Chelsea, Manhattan.

This year’s gala marks the foundation’s 22nd anniversary, honoring its ongoing mission to advance Korean contemporary art and nurture emerging artists. During the evening, AHL Foundation will present a total of $41,000 in awards and fellowships to artists, curators, and researchers selected through the foundation’s 2025 open calls and grant programs.

A special highlight of the evening will be “ART AND LAUGHTER: K-COMEDY NIGHT,” a live stand-up comedy show directed and performed by artist Mina Cheon, who performs under the stage name MJ Standup Korean. Featuring celebrated Korean comedians Peter S. Kim and Alex Kim, the show brings together art and humor in a unique and entertaining performance scheduled from 6:00 to 6:45 PM during the gala.

In addition, a Benefit Art Sale featuring works by over 30 artists will be held, offering attendees the opportunity to support the foundation’s programs while collecting exceptional works of contemporary art.

The gala will gather a diverse audience of patrons, artists, curators, and museum professionals of all generations, providing a meaningful occasion to celebrate the foundation’s achievements and envision its future together.

Founded in 2003 by Sook Nyu Lee Kim and a group of art patrons, AHL Foundation has long been committed to advancing the visibility of Korean artists in the United States and promoting Korean contemporary art. Through artist and curator grants, exhibitions, educational programs, and workshops, the foundation continues to expand the appreciation and understanding of Korean art in the global context. In 2022, AHL Foundation opened its gallery and archive room in Harlem, furthering its mission of cultural exchange and archival research.

알재단, 22주년 기념 연례 갈라 및 시상식 개최

– 총상금 4만 1천 달러, 미술상·기금·리서치 펠로십 수상자 발표 –

비영리 한인 미술인 지원단체 알재단 (대표 이숙녀)이 오는 11월 1일(토) 오후 5시부터 저녁 8시까지 제 22회 알재단 시상식 및 연례 갈라 행사를 개최한다. 맨하탄 첼시에 있는 성 아포스톨루 처치( the Church of the Holy Apostles)에서 열리는 이번 행사는 알재단의 22주년을 기념하는 자리이며, 금년 재단 공모전에서 당선된 미술 작가와, 기금 수상 작가, 아카이브 연구원, 큐레이터 등에게 상장과 상금 총 4만 1천 달러를 전달하는 시상식을 연다. 

특히 올해 갈라에는 천미나(Mina Cheon) 작가가 직접 기획·연출하고, 코미디 예명 ‘MJ Standup Korean’ 으로 무대에 오르는 스탠드업 코미디 쇼 「ART AND LAUGHTER: K-COMEDY NIGHT」 이 특별 프로그램으로 진행될 예정이다. 이번 공연은 한인 코미디언들이 함께 참여하는 특별 무대로 구성되며, 피터 S. 킴(Peter S. Kim), 알렉스 킴(Alex Kim) 이 출연해 유머와 예술이 만나는 이색적인 무대를 선보인다. 공연은 갈라 중 오후 6시부터 6시 45분까지 진행된다. 또한 30여명의 작가가 참여하는 베네핏 미술 작품 판매(Benefit Art Sale)도 운영 될 예정으로 알재단의 활동을 후원하고, 현대미술품을 소장할 수 있는 즐거운 기회를 선사한다. 본 갈라는 후원자 및 참여자, 다양한 연령대의 작가, 큐레이터, 뮤지엄 관계자 및 일반인이 참여하며, 알재단의 향 후 비전과 미래상을 함께 공유하는 장이 될 것이다. 

한편, 알재단은 2003년 이숙녀 회장 및 미술 애호가들이 함께 창립 하였으며, 미국 내 한인 예술가의 발전과 한국 현대 미술을 목적으로 작가와 큐레이터를 위한 후원 기금 뿐만 아니라 전시회, 교육 프로그램, 워크숍 등 다양한 프로그램으로 한국 현대 미술의 지지층을 넓혀가는 데 앞장서고 있다. 2022년에는 맨하탄 할렘에 갤러리 및 아카이브 룸을 개관한 바 있다. 알재단 갈라 행사 입장 티켓 구매 및 기타 문의는 info@ahlfoundation.org 로 하면된다.
