AHL Foundation Presents Bills and Wills

AHL Foundation is pleased to present Bills and Wills, on view from June 13 through July 11, 2026, at AHL Foundation Gallery. Curated by Jungmin Cho, recipient of the 2025 AHL–Chun Family Foundation Curatorial Open Call Grant, the exhibition brings together five New York-based independent art spaces and collectives: Accent Sisters, Benny’s Video, gmtc—golden monkey trading company 金猿商社, Shisanwu at Sheerly Touch-Ya Warehouse, and Subtitled.
Bills and Wills examines the various forms of labor, resources, and commitments that make exhibitions possible. Beyond visible expenses such as artist fees, installation labor, rent, and shipping costs, the exhibition considers forms of work that often go uncompensated or unnoticed, including administrative labor, favors, collaboration, and community care.
Drawing on the experiences of independent art spaces across New York City, the exhibition explores the invisible infrastructures that sustain artistic and curatorial practices. It further considers how these networks of labor and exchange contribute to broader understandings of diasporic identity and community building.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at AHL Foundation Gallery (2605 Frederick Douglass Blvd., #C1, New York, NY 10030).

2026년 6월 13일부터 7월 11일까지 전시 진행
알재단(AHL Foundation)은 6월 13일부터 7월 11일까지 알재단 갤러리에서 《Bills and Wills》를 개최한다. 이번 전시는 2025 AHL–Chun Family Foundation Curatorial Open Call 선정 큐레이터 조정민이 기획했으며, Accent Sisters, Benny’s Video, gmtc—golden monkey trading company 金猿商社, Shisanwu at Sheerly Touch-Ya Warehouse, Subtitled 등 뉴욕을 기반으로 활동하는 다섯 개의 독립 예술 공간 및 컬렉티브가 참여한다.
《Bills and Wills》는 전시를 만드는 데 필요한 다양한 노동과 비용, 그리고 이를 가능하게 하는 개인과 공동체의 의지에 주목한다. 작가 사례비, 설치 노동, 임대료, 운송비와 같은 가시적인 비용뿐 아니라 무급 행정 업무, 호의, 협력, 관계 맺기 등 쉽게 측정되지 않는 노동의 가치도 함께 질문한다.
전시는 뉴욕 독립 예술 현장에서 활동해 온 공간들의 사례를 통해 예술계의 보이지 않는 기반 구조를 살펴보며, 노동과 교환, 공동체의 관계가 디아스포라 정체성과 어떻게 연결되는지를 탐색한다.

오프닝 리셉션은 2026년 6월 13일(토) 오후 6시부터 8시까지 알재단 갤러리(2605 Frederick Douglass Blvd., #C1, New York, NY 10030)에서 열린다.
