Exhibition Open Call

Overview
AHL Foundation is pleased to announce the open call for the 2027 AHL Foundation Student & Recent Graduate Exhibition, a group exhibition dedicated to supporting emerging artists of Korean heritage.
This exhibition provides undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates with the opportunity to present their work in a professionally organized group exhibition in New York. Selected artists will receive exhibition space, curatorial support, and promotional support through AHL Foundation.
About
The Student & Recent Graduate Exhibition reflects AHL Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting artists of Korean heritage at meaningful early stages in their artistic development.
By offering a professional exhibition opportunity, this program aims to encourage emerging artists, foster dialogue, and introduce new voices to broader audiences.
Selected artists will participate in a month-long group exhibition at AHL Foundation in New York.
Please note that this program does not include a monetary award or artist honorarium. AHL Foundation will provide exhibition space, basic curatorial guidance, and promotion through its website, newsletter, and social media channels.
Eligibility & Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
● Be of Korean heritage (including applicants who are half, quarter, or otherwise of
partial Korean heritage).
● Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or have graduated
within one year of the application deadline.
● Be working in visual arts or a related contemporary art practice.
● Be based in the United States during the exhibition period.
● Be available to deliver, install, deinstall, and pick up their own artwork.
● Be able to attend the exhibition opening.
Exhibition Support
Selected artists will receive:
● Participation in a professionally organized group exhibition at AHL Foundation space.
● Basic curatorial guidance.
● Promotion through AHL Foundation’s website, newsletter, and social media channels.
● Inclusion in exhibition-related materials.
Please note:
This exhibition does not include:
● Monetary awards
● Artist honoraria
● Production funding
● Travel reimbursement
● Shipping reimbursement
● Installation assistance
Artists are responsible for transporting, installing, deinstalling, and picking up their own artwork.
Final artwork placement will be determined by AHL Foundation.
Application Requirements
We recommend preparing all required materials before starting the online application, as your progress may not be saved.
Please prepare the following:
● Artist Statement
● CV or Resume
● Work Samples (available for exhibition during the exhibition period)
○ Up to 10 images, or
○ Up to 3 video links
○ If submitting both, please include up to 5 images and 2 video links.
● Image List, including:
○ Title
○ Year
○ Medium
○ Dimensions
○ Retail price (if the artwork is available for sale)
○ Brief description (optional)
Please submit only works that will be available for exhibition if selected.
Please do not submit exhibition installation views or exhibition walkthrough videos unless they are essential to understanding the work.
Artwork Sales
Artwork may be available for sale during the exhibition.
If you wish to offer your artwork for sale, please indicate this in your application and provide the retail price for each artwork.
AHL Foundation retains a 30% commission on all artwork sales made during the exhibition. The artist will receive 70% of the final sale price. If a submitted artwork becomes unavailable before the exhibition, please notify AHL Foundation
as soon as possible.
Selection Criteria
Applications will be reviewed based on:
● Artistic quality
● Originality of concept
● Strength of submitted work samples
● Clarity of the artist statement
● Suitability for a group exhibition
Selections will be made by AHL Foundation and invited arts professionals.
Important Dates
● Open Call Opens: September 3, 2026
● Application Deadline: November 9, 2026 (11:59 PM EST)
● Notification of Results: December 2, 2026
● Artwork Delivery & Installation: January 12, 2027
● Opening Reception: January 16, 2027
● Exhibition Period: January 16 – February 12, 2027
● Artwork Pickup: February 13, 2027
Important Notes
Because we receive a large number of applications, only applications that fully comply with the submission guidelines will be reviewed.
Please carefully follow all eligibility requirements, submission instructions, file specifications, and
deadlines.
Applications that do not follow the guidelines—including incomplete applications, incorrect submission materials, late submissions, or materials submitted separately by email—will not be reviewed, regardless of the quality of the submitted work.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Additional Information
● All submitted work must be the applicant’s original work.
● Only complete applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed.
● Selected artists may be asked to provide high-resolution images for promotional
purposes.
● Artwork must remain available for the entire exhibition period.
● AHL Foundation reserves the right to make final decisions regarding exhibition layout
and installation.
● No application fee.
