The AHL Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Korean artists and arts professionals, has announced Eunha Chang as the recipient of the 2026 AHL Foundation Curatorial Open Call Grant.

Since 2017, the AHL Foundation has supported emerging Korean heritage curators through its curatorial fellowship initiatives, providing opportunities to develop and present original exhibitions in New York. Building on this commitment, the AHL Foundation launched the Curatorial Open Call in 2024 to further expand opportunities for independent curators and strengthen the presence of Korean contemporary art within the international art community.

The recipient of the Curatorial Open Call Grant receives a $5,000 award to curate an exhibition at the AHL Foundation Gallery (2605 Frederick Douglass Blvd., #C1, New York, NY 10030), providing an opportunity to introduce innovative curatorial perspectives and promote diverse artists within New York’s vibrant cultural landscape.

The 2026 recipient, Eunha Chang, is a curator and Fulbright Scholar (2024–2026) pursuing a PhD in Art History at Binghamton University. Her research explores contemporary painting and sculpture from the 2010s to the present, focusing on post-digital and AI-mediated conditions and their implications for the epistemic processes of art-making, subjectivity, and the intermediality between image and text. 

As a curator, Chang has organized exhibitions at the Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA), de Appel, Amsterdam, the National Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, Insa Art Space, G Gallery, and other institutions in Korea and abroad. Her recent exhibitions include The Internet Barnacles (G Gallery, Seoul, 2025), Sad Captions (SeMA Bunker, Seoul, 2024), and Squish! In the Forest (Insa Art Space, Seoul, 2024). Her transnational projects include Autophagy (de Appel & Beautiful Soup, Amsterdam, 2022–2023), developed through a collaboration between DutchCulture and Arts Council Korea, and Convening the Untitleds (Seoul Museum of Art, 2023–2024), developed with the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art and the Singapore Art Museum. Through these projects, she has actively fostered artistic and curatorial exchange across national boundaries.

Chang has previously worked at the Seoul Museum of Art, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), and the Istanbul Biennial. She has been selected as an Emerging Curator by the Seoul Museum of Art, a Young Visual Art Professional by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, and an artist nominator for the 2026 Sovereign Asian Art Prize. Her research and curatorial projects have been supported by the Rockefeller Archive Center, the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, Arts Council Korea, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, and the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange. She received an M.A. in Contemporary Art Theory, with Distinction, from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a B.A. in Art Studies from Hongik University.

비영리 한인 미술인 지원단체 알재단(AHL Foundation, 대표 이숙녀)은 2026 AHL Foundation Curatorial Open Call 수상자로 장은하를 선정했다.

알재단은 2017년부터 한인 큐레이터들의 성장을 지원하기 위한 큐레토리얼 프로그램을 운영하며, 뉴욕에서 독창적인 전시를 기획하고 선보일 수 있는 기회를 제공해 왔다. 이러한 지원을 바탕으로 2024년부터 AHL Foundation Curatorial Open Call을 시작하여 독립 큐레이터들의 창의적인 전시 기획을 지원하고 한국 현대미술의 국제적 확장을 위한 발판을 마련하고 있다.

Curatorial Open Call에 선정된 큐레이터는 5,000달러의 전시 지원금과 함께 알재단 갤러리(2605 Frederick Douglass Blvd., #C1, New York, NY 10030)에서 전시를 기획할 기회를 제공받으며, 뉴욕 미술계에 새로운 큐레토리얼 담론과 다양한 작가들을 소개하게 된다.

2026년 수상자인 장은하는 큐레이터이자 풀브라이트 장학생(2024–2026)으로, 빙엄턴대학교에서 미술사 박사과정을 수학하고 있다. 그의 연구는 2010년대 이후의 동시대 회화와 조각을 다루며, 포스트디지털 및 AI 매개적 조건과 그것이 동시대 인식론, 주체성, 이미지와 텍스트 사이의 상호매체성에 미치는 함의에 주목한다. 

큐레이터로서 그는 서울시립미술관(SeMA), de Appel (암스테르담), 국립아시아문화전당(광주), 인사미술공간, G Gallery 등 국내외 기관에서 다수의 전시를 기획했다. 최근에는 《인터넷 따개비들 The Internet Barnacles》(G Gallery, 서울, 2025), 《슬픈 캡션: 모든 건 다 떠내려갔고, 나는 ‘슬픈’ 뒤에 어떤 단어도 쓸 수 없지만》(서울시립미술관 SeMA 벙커, 2024), 《Squish! In the Forest》(인사미술공간, 2024) 등을 기획했으며, 《Autophagy》(de Appel & Beautiful Soup, 암스테르담, 2022–2023)와 《Convening the Untitleds》(서울시립미술관, 2023–2024) 등 국제 협력 프로젝트를 통해 국가 간 예술 교류를 활발히 이어오고 있다.

서울시립미술관, 국립현대미술관(MMCA), 이스탄불 비엔날레에서 근무했으며, 서울시립미술관 신진미술인 (기획자), 한국국제문화교류진흥원 차세대 국제문화교류 전문인력, 2026 Sovereign Asian Art Prize 아티스트 노미네이터로 선정된 바 있다. 그의 연구와 전시는 록펠러 아카이브 센터, IASH, 한국문화예술위원회, 서울문화재단, 한국국제문화교류진흥원 등의 지원을 받았다. 영국 골드스미스대학교(Goldsmiths, University of London)에서 현대미술이론 석사학위(M.A., Distinction)를, 홍익대학교 예술학과에서 학사학위(B.A.)를 취득했다.
