알재단, 2026 가을학기 온라인 미술사 수업 개강 

9월 8일(화)부터 12월 15일(화)까지 총 14회 강의로 구성

비영리 한인 미술인 지원 단체 알재단(AHL Foundation, 대표 이숙녀)은 오는 2026년 9월 8일(화)부터 12월 15일(화)까지 총 14회로 구성된 온라인 미술사 강의를 진행한다. 강의는 한국어로 진행되며, 미 동부시간 기준 매주 화요일 오전 10시부터 11시 30분까지 열린다.

지난 학기에 이어 2026년 가을학기에도 고진영 박사가 연사로 참여하며, 철학적 관점을 통해 예술을 감상하고 해석하는 새로운 접근법을 소개할 예정이다.

이번 학기 강의 제목은 ‘예술 감상: 철학을 통해 바라보는 예술(Art Appreciation: Seeing Art Through Philosophy)’​이다. 수강생들은 플라톤과 아리스토텔레스의 미학부터 동양철학, 한국 미학, 생태철학, 신유물론, AI와 기술철학에 이르기까지 다양한 철학적 사유를 역사적·동시대 예술 작품과 함께 살펴보게 된다. 이를 통해 작품을 바라보는 새로운 시각을 기르고, 인간과 자연, 물질, 기술, 세계가 맺는 관계를 폭넓게 이해하며 비판적 감상 능력과 창의적 사고를 확장할 수 있도록 구성했다.

강의 신청은 2026년 8월 28일(금)까지 가능하며, 14주 과정으로 구성된 가을학기 수업료는 280달러이다. 접수 및 문의는 info@ahlfoundation.org로 하면 된다.

한편, 강의를 진행하는 고진영 박사는 메릴랜드주 타우슨대학교(Towson University) 예술·디자인, 미술사, 미술교육학과의 대학원 프로그램 디렉터이자 부교수이다. 뉴욕 컬럼비아대학교(Columbia University)에서 예술 및 미술교육학 박사를 취득하였으며, 캘리포니아 예술대학(California Institute of the Arts)에서 미술석사(MFA), 시카고 예술학교(School of the Art Institute of Chicago)에서 미술학사(BFA)를 받았다. 그의 융합적 예술 실천은 다수의 수상 경력을 보유하고 있으며, 작품은 필라델피아 미술관(Philadelphia Museum of Art), 시카고 미술관(Art Institute of Chicago), 록펠러 재단(Rockefeller Foundation) 등의 소장품에 포함되어 있다.

Registration for the AHL Foundation’s Fall 2026 Art History Classes Now Open

14-Week Online Course Runs from September 8th to December 15th, 2026

The AHL Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Korean artists, will hold its Fall 2026 Art History classes from September 8th through December 15th, 2026. This 14-week online course will take place over Zoom every Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (EST). Classes will be conducted in Korean.

About the Course

This semester’s course, titled “Art Appreciation: Seeing Art Through Philosophy,” explores art through a wide range of philosophical perspectives. Participants will examine Western aesthetics, Eastern philosophy, Korean aesthetics, ontology, ecological thought, new materialism, and contemporary discussions surrounding AI and technology through both historical and contemporary works of art. By connecting philosophical ideas with artistic practice, the course encourages participants to develop new ways of seeing, deepen their understanding of the relationships among humans, nature, materiality, technology, and society, and expand their critical appreciation and creative thinking.

About the Lecturer

Dr. Jinyoung Koh is Graduate Program Director and Associate Professor in the Department of Art + Design, Art History, and Art Education at Towson University in Maryland. He earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Art & Art Education from Columbia University in New York, an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts, and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His interdisciplinary artistic practice has received numerous awards, and his work is included in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Rockefeller Foundation.
