알재단, 2025년 가을학기 온라인 미술사 수업 개강

‘매체의 다양성으로 작품을 이해하는’ 14주의 특별한 강의, 9월 9일 시작

(뉴욕=알재단) 비영리 한인 미술인 지원단체 알재단(AHL Foundation, 대표 이숙녀)이 2025년 가을학기 온라인 미술사 강의를 진행한다. 오는 9월 9일(화)부터 12월 16일(화)까지 총 14주에 걸쳐 매주 화요일 오전 10시(미 동부 시간)에 Zoom을 통해 진행하며, 강의는 한국어로 진행된다.

<미술 감상: 매체의 다양성으로 작품 이해하기>라는 제목의 이 강의는 드로잉, 회화, 사진, 퍼포먼스, 설치미술 등 다양한 예술 매체를 탐구하며 우리가 예술 작품을 어떻게 해석하고 경험하는지 살펴본다. 시각적 분석 중심의 강의를 통해 수강생들은 전통 매체와 동시대 미술 실천 전반에 대한 이해를 넓히고 비판적 사고 능력을 함양하는 기회를 얻게 된다.

강의자 소개: 고진영 박사는 미국 메릴랜드 주립 타우슨 대학교(Towson University) 예술·디자인, 미술사, 미술교육학과의 대학원 프로그램 디렉터이자 부교수이다. 그는 뉴욕 컬럼비아 대학교에서 미술 및 미술교육학 박사 학위를, 캘리포니아 예술대학(California Institute of the Arts)에서 사진 및 미디어 석사(MFA)를, 시카고 아트 인스티튜트(School of the Art Institute of Chicago) 에서 미술 학사(BFA)를 취득했다. 고 교수의 작품은 필라델피아 미술관, 시카고 아트 인스티튜트, 록펠러 재단 등에 소장되어 있으며, 다양한 수상 경력을 갖고 있다.

AHL Foundation’s Fall 2025 Online Art History Course Now Open for Registration

14-Week Course on ‘Understanding Art through Diverse Media’ Begins September 9

(New York, NY) The AHL Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Korean artists, announces its Fall 2025 Art History course. The 14-week online course runs from September 9 through December 16, 2025, every Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM (EST) via Zoom. The course is conducted in Korean.

Titled Art Appreciation: Understanding Art through Diverse Media, this course invites participants to explore how various artistic media—from drawing and painting to photography, performance, and installation—shape our interpretation and experience of art. Through weekly lectures focused on visual analysis, participants will gain a deeper understanding of both traditional and contemporary artistic practices and enhance their critical thinking skills.

About the Lecturer: Dr. Jinyoung Koh is the Graduate Program Director and an Associate Professor in the Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education at Towson University in Maryland. He holds a Doctorate in Art and Art Education from Columbia University, an MFA in Photo & Media from the California Institute of the Arts, and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Dr. Koh’s artwork has received numerous accolades and is included in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Rockefeller Foundation.
