The AHL Foundation in partnership with Jason J. Kim Dental Aesthetics is pleased to present a one year exhibition of artworks by Kurt Herrmann. Herrmann’s paintings will be on view at the Jason J. Kim Dental Aesthetics located at 5 Harbor Park Dr., Port Washington, New York from July 18, 2016 through July 16, 2017. An artist reception will be held on Monday, July 18, 5:00-7:00PM with an Artist Talk starting at 5:30pm.

Kurt Herrmann is a painter from the hills of Appalachia in central Pennsylvania who does both figurative and abstract work but above all is a colorist at heart. Mountain Talk documents the 10 years he has lived in the lush and isolated Sugar Valley.According to Herrmann, “It’s inhabited by Amish and rednecks, but has pockets of insanely creative wonderful people all enveloped by the mountains on both sides. Nature is king around here… I am constantly influenced by the weather, seasons, landscape and all the living creatures that live in theses hills. It is a place that still possesses quiet and silence.” Sugar Valley has been a fertile place for creation and to carve out life for the artist. The show brings together many of the different series that Herrmann has produced there – divergent and dissimilar, but also inescapably connected to one another and always united by color.

Herrmann has exhibited nationally and internationally since graduating from Lock Haven University in 1995. He’s shown at Yard Dog Gallery, Austin TX, Michael Rosenfeld Gallery, Philadelphia PA, the Cleveland International Airport, the Omaha Museum of Art, Shoom Gallery in St. Petersburg, Russia, and the Baikmin Museum of Bosung Gun, in South Korea. His solo show at Firecat Projects in Chicago, IL opens on July 29th, 2016.

This exhibition is part of AHL Foundation’s Art in the Workplace Program, which exhibits contemporary artwork in a work environment to create greater exposure for talented artists while fostering easier access and support for the arts within the business community. The Art in the Workplace program is presented in collaboration with Jason J. Kim Dental Aesthetics with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts.
